Eco Coat® Glass Protection System

Solves Age-Old Problem

It is not so far-fetched that the very first construction site sparked a debate about who is responsible for windows damaged by construction debris and metal scrapers. The conflict has certainly been long-lived. With an increased interest in the topic, Edgetech I.G. wants customers to know there is a solution to the problem through prevention.

Edgetech entered into a partnership with Eco Coat® Glass Protection Systems to exclusively distribute an environmentally friendly alternative for window protection.

Eco Coat can be applied during manufacture or at the construction site. Early adopters have found Eco Coat to be easy to apply and remove while offering superior protection against freight damage and construction debris throughout the entire process.

The Eco Coat Glass Protection System protects windows in a simple, two-step process.

Step 1: Protect E-Shield Application
Protect E-Shield is a proprietary graphed small molecule polymer coating that can be applied by glass or window makers at the point of manufacture or upon arrival at the construction site by the builder. Incredibly tough, chemically resistant and translucent, Eco Coat is easy to use and can cover every part of the window and frame, enveloping the system in a consistent layer of protective shielding. While only a few microns in thickness, the unique molecular composition of Eco Coat is engineered to firmly hook itself to the microscopic imperfections in the surface of the glass or frames.

Step 2: Protect E-Shield Removal with Eco Coat Converter-E
After construction is complete, the builder then applies the Converter-E to the surfaces of the window systems as part of the standard window cleaning process. Converter-E breaks the molecular bonds that hold the Protect E-Shield polymer together, producing a safe by-product that will not harm the applicators, building or environment.

Eco Coat’s Environmental Advantage
Eco Coat is an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic films, which are commonly used to protect window systems. Plastic films persist in landfills for thousands of years, but Eco Coat dissolves easily and safely. Harsh chemicals are also used frequently to remove debris from windows, but they pose a threat for soil contamination and can be hazardous to workers – Eco Coat does neither.

By protecting the window system from construction debris and freight damage with Eco Coat, manufacturers and builders can avoid the costly replacement of windows and be assured that windows retain their aesthetic appeal throughout the construction process.
